Timeline

Housing and Travel Arrangements

The REU program will assist students with travel arrangements (including covering costs up to $500!) Housing will be provided in apartments at Emory’s Clairmont Residential Center.

Orientation and Workshops

REU participants will dive in to the Chemistry Unbound approach with a series of workshops, including hands-on activities and lab tours, alongside safety, ethics, and leadership training with other undergraduate researchers across the university.

Research Experience #1

Choose a lab with help from program mentors and spend seven weeks putting what you’ve learned into practice. At the end of the summer, all participants will present their research at the annual SURE symposium!

The Year in the Middle

Virtual and in-person experiences will help you to stay connected with Emory and your REU cohort and to share your experiences at your home institution with a special research seminar.

Research Experience #2

Return to Emory to continue your research. A second summer allows you to deepen your research knowledge and take ownership of your project. Share what you’ve learned via a science communications project designed with your emerging research and career goals in mind.

Emory…and beyond!

Your connection to Emory doesn’t stop when the REU is over. Your mentors will be here to help you as you continue your undergraduate work and look ahead to graduate school and careers.

Alumni Connections

Miss us? Come back and give a seminar virtually or in person to a new REU cohort!
